    [The Chesterfield Supper Club had been heard on NBC network
     radio since 1944 -- in three incarnations with various hosts,
     including Perry Como as one of them. This TV series overlapped
     the later versions of the series on radio.
    
     This series was the FIRST of four regular primetime musical
     variety TV series hosted by Perry Como.

     The SECOND one was a 15-min. series following the news on
     CBS, also called "The Perry Como Show" with Mitchell
     Ayers and his orchestra (CBS, 1950-55), which see...

     The THIRD series was also called "The Perry Como Show"

Theme 2: "Smoke Dreams"

    [Another composition named "Smoke Dreams" was written for the 1936
     motion picture "After the Thin Man", with words by Arthur Freed and 
     music by Nacio Herb Brown. It is published by Robbins Music. There  
     is no connection between the 1936 movie song and this radio/TV THEME.
     
     Ted Steele was the bandleader of the first radio version of this program
     which aired on NBC radio from 1944 - 47.]
