Victory At Sea (documentary)
(NBC Sundays, 1952 - 1953)
[a series of 26 narrated films about the US Navy's role in World
War Two, with a music score composed by the venerable Broadway
composer Richard Rodgers, proving he was more than just a
tunesmith...the narrator for the series was Leonard Graves.]
Theme: "Song Of The High Seas"
[other cues for this series were so good, they became well-known
on their own, including "Guadalcanal March", "The Pacific Boils
Over", "Hard Work and Horseplay", "Fiddlin' Off Watch", and
"Beneath The Southern Cross" -- a tango tune Rodgers re-cycled in
for the Broadway Musical "Me And Juliet" -- which became a popular
hit song with lyric by Oscar Hammerstein II, under its new title:
"No Other Love (Have I)".]
