(ABC Primetime, 1949 - 1952; ABC Primetime, 1954 - 1956) [based upon the 1948 radio series that was a national sensation for a few years, the TV series started a year later in 1949 and lasted a year longer; The TV series had the same orchestra (Harry Salter) and the same M.C. (Bert Parks); Phil Silvers did a stint in 1951 as a guest host so Bert Parks could take a vacation; Louis G. Cowan created this series with Mark Goodson producing; The idea combined an audience giveaway show (in the style of radio's wildly popular "Pot O' Gold") with a music identification quiz; In 1952, the show was cancelled, so bandleader/conductor Harry Salter went on to create and produce a simpler musical quiz called "Name That Tune", which see; Salter also was creator/producer of "Music Bingo" which aired on NBC and ABC from 1958 - 1960; In 1954, Salter was busy with "Name That Tune" when ABC suddenly revived "Stop The Music", so Ray Bloch took over the orchestra in 1954, and even wrote a new THEME; The revival lasted one year on radio and two seasons on TV; Bill Cullen was the host during the first season of the revival followed by Happy Felton the last season]
