(CBS Saturday Nights, 1950) [This series was a kind of "audience participation" version of "Name That Tune" using people who tried to identify songs chosen from the studio audience and from people telephoned at random at home; it was derived from a CBS Radio series of the same name which began in 1948; but it had an unlucky transition to television; Dan Seymour, the "man-at-the-phone" radio host, was the first TV host; but despite his replacement by Jan Murray in mid-season, the series didn't last; Jan Murray and the Ray Bloch orchestra also were featured in another musical quiz which began on television in 1950, called "Songs For Sale", in which would-be songwriters were given a chance to pitch their compositions before a panel of judges...]
