[aka: "Rawhide Main Title Theme";
aka: "Rawhide End Title Theme";
This THEME is a head-scratcher -- there weren't any other
TV series named 'Rawhide' -- yet here is a THEME credit
for Disney composer Oliver G. Wallace and orchestrator/
arranger Paul Van Loan; which leads us to believe this
was probably the original network Main/End Title; or
it may have been a chapter title used to begin and end
the episodes "inside" the THEME song.
What may have happened is when the "Ballad of Palladin"
appeared sung by Johnny Western on another CBS series,
"Have Gun, Will Travel"; and the producers said, "We must
have a song like that..." which led to the replacement
of this THEME after only a few episodes, and the sudden
appearance of the Dimitri Tiompkin "Rawhide" song, sung
by Frankie Laine, which was successful in cross-promoting
the series, and became a signature song for Frankie Laine;
And the rest is show business history...]

[according to Jon Burlingame's book "TV's Biggest Hits",
this THEME had been part of the original music package
written for the series. It was finally used for the last
