(ABC Sunday Nights, 1977 - 1979)
[The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries were two series of
books featuring young detectives which were the product of
a group of writers hired by publisher Edward Stratemeyer
in the early 1900s; the books were authored under a common
pen name, but were really a group effort to create series
of juvenile adventures;
An animated cartoon series of The Hardy Boys had been
previously attempted on Saturday mornings 1969 - 1970;
During the first 1977 season, the two live-action "mysteries"
alternated as two separate series running bi-weekly; for
the second 1978 season the casts merged into one weekly
series but flagging ratings weren't improved by this change;
The Hardy Boys were played by Shaun Cassidy and Parker
Stevenson; Nancy Drew was played by Pamela Sue Martin]
