(ABC Primetime, 1950 - 1951)
[This was an early attempt to bring the genial radio host to
television (after all, it had worked for Arthur Godfrey); but
despite a number of regular performers including Fran Allison
(of Kukla, Fran and Ollie) this effort, which aired during
Primetime, lasted only one season...
Three years later, ABC made another attempt, simulcasting
McNeill's "Breakfast Club" daytime radio show...which had
been a fixture on radio since 1933. But again the TV show
only lasted a year...apparently the low-key Godfrey approach
wasn't McNeill's style]
