(CBS Primetime, 1953 - 1954)
[The oddest looking western ever broadcast on television was
this live daily program which originated in Philadelphia;
A team of writers came up with garden-variety plots which
had plenty of stunts and simulated violence and gunplay...
But the dust in the air of the mid-day sun looked like smoke
with the old video cameras, and was a bit distracting to
viewers; glare and odd specular highlights and a soundtrack
which had no "foley artist" made it almost seem like a cross
between a soap opera and a rodeo -- it certainly didn't seem
like a typical dramatic TV western.
The experiment only lasted for one season.]
