During the 1950s one of the styles for which versatile film
composer Elmer Bernstein became known was a symphonic jazz
style with a bass ostinato (repeated figure) and brass bluesy
melodies; He invented this genre with his film THEMEs for
"The Man With The Golden Arm", "The Rat Race" and "Walk On
The Wild Side"; so it was naturally to Mr. Bernstein that
the producers of "Staccato" turned for such a distinctive
sound for the opening and closing THEME of their TV series]
