Rocky And His Friends/The Bullwinkle Show (cartoons, created by Jay Ward)

    (as "Rocky And His Friends": ABC Primetime, 1959 - 1961;
     and as "The Bullwinkle Show": NBC Sundays, 1961 - 1964;
     Reruns on ABC Weekends, 1964 - 1973)

    [Synd. and Rerun title "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle";
     aka: "Rocky and Bullwinkle"]

    [one of the few cartoon series which was aired in Prime-Time,
     in this case because it appealed on two levels -- adults could
     appreciate some of the jokes and puns which zinged over the
     heads of younger fans. Jay Ward also created the first made-for-TV
     cartoon series "Crusader Rabbit", which see.

     There were various Segments of the show which each had multiple
     themes, some written by Frank Comstock, then later new ones by
     Paul Parnes. Then after the series changed networks, new Segment
     themes and a new Open/Close theme were composed by Fred Steiner.

     In 1961, when the series changed networks from ABC to NBC, the
     title was changed the "The Bullwinkle Show" and segments were
     juggled around.

     A revival series was attempted on NBC during the 1980 - 81
     season, and a Feature Film in the year 2000.]

Main Theme 2: "Rocky And Bullwinkle Theme"

    [aka: "The Bullwinkle Show Open"
     aka: "Bullwinkle", as per TV Guide;

     Verified also as the THEME in TV Guide article "Looking
     For A Lost Chord?" April 28, 1962, pp. 12-13;

     In an interview for the Television Academy, Fred Steiner
     revealed that producer Jay Ward discovered at one point
     that Frank Comstock had published the THEME and cues for
     the series on his own;

     Producers had become aware that they could profit from
     publishing royalties if they claimed to have a music
     publishing company, even if it was just a mechanism for
     collecting royalties with no sheet music or attempt to
     promote recordings was made;

     So Jay Ward hired Fred Steiner to write a new THEME and
     additional cues to replace those of Comstock, and he
     was then able to claim a share of the royalties as
     the theme music publisher.]
