      and also competition from new shows like "Mickey Mouse Club"...]

     [*pseudonym of Pincus Leff; who also hosted a weekly Primetime
       variety show with the same name (on NBC, 1950 and 1954-56), 
       which see; and co-hosted a 15-min. musical-variety series, 
       "Those Two" (NBC, 1951 - 1953.)]
