McCoy (adventure, starring Tony Curtis)

    (NBC Primetime, 1975 - 1976)

    [alternate title: "NBC Mystery Movie: McCoy";

     It was added to the rotating group of series which aired
     under the umbrella title "The NBC Mystery Movie";

     The McCoy character was a curious concept -- a con man with a
     gambling addiction decides to turn over a new leaf and become
     a latter-day Robin Hood -- to help those who have been financially
     victimized to regain their money and put the perpetrators in jail;

     The concept may have had more than a passing co-incidence
     with that of the hit 1973 movie "The Sting" in which a con man
     con's a notorious mob figure and card cheat;

     It may have been confused with another one of the rotating
     series of NBC's "Mystery Movie" -- "McCloud" starring Dennis
     Weaver -- playing a New Mexico deputy on temporary assignment
     in New York City;

     But whatever the reason, "McCoy" unfortunately failed to catch
     on with the public so only four episodes aired...]
