Gidget / The New Gidget (sitcom)

     (ABC Primetime, 1965 - 1966, starring Sally Fields;
      Syndicated, 1986 - 1988,    starring Caryn Richman)

     [the original light bit of fluff starring Sally Fields
      was based upon the Sandra Dee beach bunny movies of
      the same name, Gidget hung out with California beach
      boys while her boyfriend was away at college...her
      character was the younger sister of an over-protective
      older sister, and her father was a college professor;
      sort of a charmed life which was everyone's California
      dream in the mid-sixties; 

      In 1986, a sequel was attempted called "The New Gidget"
      starring unknown Caryn Richman]
