The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (sitcom, starring Hope Lange)

[20th Century-Fox Television produced this series based
upon characters in the 1947 romantic fantasy movie of the
same name, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, starring Gene
Tierney and Rex Harrison (with a memorable film score by
Bernard Herrmann);
The premise of both movie and TV series was that of a widow
who moves to a seaside cottage, and is befriended by the ghost
of its previous owner -- a crusty sea captain; the film
is set in 1900 in a cottage in Great Britain; the TV series
was set in contemporary 1960s in a in New England town; the
supporting cast included Edward Mulhare as the Captain and
comedic character actor Charles Nelson Reilly as his living
