The Debbie Reynolds Show (sitcom)
(NBC Primetime, 1969 - 1970)
[In the spirit of "I Love Lucy", "The George Burns and Gracie
Allen Show" and "My Little Margie", film star Debbie Reynolds
played a slightly ditzy young woman whose well-meaning efforts
to deal with the vicissitudes of life lead to complications;
Perhaps this formula was tried because the series was produced
by Jess Oppenheimer, producer of the classic "I Love Lucy";
But by the late 1960s, this premise had been explored in many
sitcoms; unfortunately this series didn't have a particularly
original twist on the formula, despite a cast that included
support from Don Chastain and veteran character actor (and
voice actor) Tom Bosley; the series only lasted one season;
Reynolds starred on TV in one subsequent ABC series over a
decade later called "Aloha Paradise" (1981) which was also
short-lived]
